My fianc\u00e9, Justin, and I purchased an old Victorian home in Toronto last summer. And while it boasted some incredible bones (like 10&#8243; baseboards), it was definitely in need of some love. One in which we were excited to spend time in. And from there, we were off to the races. We installed some simple&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/metrie.com\/products\/toronto\/MFP8048B1\/\">crown moulding<\/a>&nbsp;crown moulding, that felt in keeping with the period of our home,&nbsp;exchanged the venetian blinds for custom&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tonicliving.com\/\">linen drapes<\/a>, and gave the walls a lick of soft grey paint (Farrow &amp; Ball&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/us.farrow-ball.com\/\">Amonite White <\/a>, for those of you who&#8217;ll ask.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28256\" src=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_15.jpg\" alt=\"cozy living room design\" width=\"650\" height=\"977\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_15.jpg 650w, https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_15-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_15-480x721.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From there, an extra deep sectional from&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2pz35II\">AllModern<\/a>&nbsp;set the stage. While it was admittedly nerve-wracking to select&nbsp;a couch online without testing it out, we relied heavily on the reviews, and we&#8217;re thrilled to say it&#8217;s literally perfect. It&#8217;s firm enough to feel tailored and elegant while we&#8217;re entertaining like <em>real<\/em> grown ups. But plush (and deep) enough to really allow us to cozy up for movie nights with friends.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28255\" src=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_14.jpg\" alt=\"modern elegant chandelier\" width=\"650\" height=\"977\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_14.jpg 650w, https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_14-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_14-480x721.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the first eight months of&nbsp;our lives here, we lived with an exposed light bulb. So, to be totally honest, a change of any variety would have been an automatic upgrade. But the fact that we were able to incorporate this glass and iron beauty from&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.crystorama.com\/crystorama-calypso-6-light-crystal-teardrop-chrome-chandelier_5568.aspx#.WPTqniMrJp9\">Crystorama<\/a>&nbsp;(one in which I&#8217;ve been lusting after for&nbsp;<em>years<\/em>) was just icing on the cake. I love that it feels totally timeless, yet intrinsically modern in the same breath. It bridges that gap beautifully and really feels as if it was made for our space.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28249\" src=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_8.jpg\" alt=\"how to distract from your tv\" width=\"650\" height=\"993\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_8.jpg 650w, https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_8-196x300.jpg 196w, https:\/\/jacquelynclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/lark-linen_ORC_8-480x733.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An extra wide&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2pyKwUL\">media cabinet<\/a>&nbsp;pulls double duty &#8211; hiding all of our cable boxes (because&nbsp;real people&nbsp;<em>actually<\/em>&nbsp;live here), all while giving us storage space for pretty little details when the TV is not in use. Form meets function and it&#8217;s simply glorious.&nbsp;<br \/>\nWith a solid foundation in place, we slowly began adding in all of those incredible&nbsp;layers. Those essentials bits and pieces that make a house feel like a home.
